SMOLBAG GUIDES

Will it fit? Check the opening, not just the litres

A practical way to compare a phone, e-reader or everyday carry against a bag's measurements.

Smolbag editorial · 4 October 2026 · 日本語

Start with the item you carry

Measure your item with its case, cover or sleeve. Compare it with the bag's internal dimensions where those are supplied. External dimensions describe the outside of the bag; they do not establish usable space.

Check the opening and the shape

A zipper opening can be shorter than the bag's width. Curved corners, padding and dividers take up space. Even if three dimensions appear sufficient, the item still has to pass through the opening.

Use volume as context

Smolbag's box-volume estimate multiplies external dimensions. It is a bounding box, not a measured capacity. A published litre rating and a calculated box volume answer different questions. Our fit tool is a preliminary check, not a promise.
